Meet Scott
You'll know Scott's teaching worked the moment his student succeeds — because he'll be more excited than they are.
That's not exaggeration. When Alexa passed her checkride on her way to her private pilot certificate, Scott was out of his chair, and headed straight for the Jet Center to celebrate — the same reaction he has for every student who reaches a milestone, family or not.
It's the same instinct that's earned him a 100% first-time checkride pass rate and 1,600+ hours of dual instruction given: Scott doesn't just want you to pass. He wants you to excel and be there when you do.
His commitment to aviation and to the people who serve hasn't gone unnoticed — Scott was featured on KDZA Station in a segment honoring veterans, “Veteran of the Week”.
Meet Dian
If you call WETSU, chances are you're also going to be talking to Dian.
She's originally from Trinidad and Tobago, where she met Scott in 1999. Soon after moved to North Carolina and landed in Colorado Springs in 2008 when the Army stationed the family at Fort Carson. It's been home ever since.
Dian holds a Bachelor's in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies. She's been a certified Lighting Specialist through the American Lighting Association since 2012, designing lighting for multimillion-dollar custom homes — and for the last three years, she's brought that same eye for detail to real estate as an agent.
At WETSU, she's basically everything you don't see in the cockpit — she runs the books, stocks supplies, cleans the hangar and planes, and still finds time to join Scott and Alexa to fly for the fun of it.
Off the clock, she's a wife and mom, a serious home cook, a weight-training regular, and — because apparently two careers wasn't enough — she and Scott run a couple of Airbnb properties too.
Dian's proof that you don't have to be a pilot to be part of an aviation family. Though give her time — she's working on it.
Meet Alexa
Pilots in the Caribbean!
That's Alexa under the cowling, wrench in hand, working alongside Scott on the Baron C55 — which pretty much tells you everything about how she approaches aviation. Hands-on, all in.
At 23, Alexa's already completed one competitive career and started a second. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado as a Division I pole vaulter, competing at the Big Sky Conference level while earning All-Academic honors — the same drive that now shows up in how she flies. Not long after graduation, she jumped straight into aviation, and today she's honing her skills in FBO operations at the Jet Center while building flight hours toward her commercial single-engine certificate.
Ask anyone around the hangar and they'll tell you: Alexa brings serious organizational skill and an even better attitude to everything she touches. She's easy to be around, quick to help, and genuinely loves this world — which is exactly the kind of energy WETSU wants around every student.
